Que mesure réellement le temps d'attente?

Habituellement le délai estimé avant de voir un médecin, mais le Canada n'a pas de définition commune. Le Québec publie l'occupation des civières, le Nouveau-Brunswick la durée du séjour, et d'autres une estimation du délai avant la prise en charge; nous gardons donc chaque province dans ses propres unités, sans jamais les fondre en un chiffre trompeur.

Dois-je aller à l'urgence, ou ailleurs?

Pour toute situation potentiellement mortelle, composez le 911 ou rendez-vous à l'urgence la plus proche immédiatement, n'attendez jamais un temps affiché plus court. Pour un problème non urgent, appeler le 811 (conseils santé gratuits 24/7), une clinique sans rendez-vous ou un pharmacien est souvent plus rapide. Dans le doute, faites-vous examiner.

Pourquoi certains hôpitaux n'affichent-ils aucune attente?
